Student Intern Housing

Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH)
WISH provides fully furnished townhouses and apartments in Washington’s Capitol Hill neighborhood.  All WISH locations are Metro accessible. For each intern, rent covers a fully furnished living space, utilities, household goods (light bulbs, kitchen and dinnerware), laundry facilities, iron/ironing board, cable TV and wireless internet access.

The Heritage Foundation
One of Washington’s leading conservative think tanks, the Heritage Foundation, offers fully furnished dormitories for DC interns at competitive rates. The building is access controlled and includes a coin-operated laundry facility, fitness center, library, and lounges.

Thompson-Markward Hall
This young women’s Christian home offers a secure, comfortable, attractive, and affordable home for young women needing a good place to start their future endeavors in Washington. TMH is located on Capitol Hill within walking distance of Congressional offices, many government agencies, the Library of Congress, and the Smithsonian museums. It is also convenient to the bus and Metro lines and Union Station.

The International Student House
The International Student House is a residence and program center for graduate students, interns, trainees or visiting scholars committed to promoting the mission of tolerance, respect and friendship among individuals from around the world. They strive for a balance of residents from all parts of the world representing many fields of study. Preference is given to those over 21 years of age. It is wise to apply at least 3 months in advance of your arrival date.

The Washington Intern Housing Network
WIHN offers a wide range of housing options. Properties range from single and multi-bedroom apartments, to individual/shared rooms in historic Capitol Hill row homes to entire townhomes.

Many of the colleges and universities around the DC area offer their dormitories during the summer recess. Prices vary, but consider looking at all of the following campuses:

Hillzoo is a well-established online community catering to the needs of all DC workers. There are always new advertisements for short-term and long-term housing at a variety of prices.

Other easy-to-use sites are available for comprehensive housing searches.  Be aware that a few of these sites will charge a user fee or will ask for your email address before permitting you to use their search engines.

Hostels

DC, Hostelling International-Washington, DC (HI-DC)
HI-DC is close to the White House, the Capitol, Smithsonian museums, Chinatown, bars, restaurants, monuments, performing art centers and many more attractions. HI-DC is also within easy walking distance of subway stations and bus stops. It offers safe, clean and comfortable accommodations, with a wide variety of amenities and services.

DC Lofty
DC Lofty offers a safe, affordable, and luxury housing option for interns, international and local students in a dorm-style bedroom setting. It is located just a few blocks from the Chinatown and Convention Center metro stops.
