Job Description

The Leadership Institute seeks a Donor Services Officer (DSO) to join our fast-paced and growing Development team. He or she will work to research and build personal relationships with mid-level donors.

This is a robust entry-level position for someone determined to rapidly acquire non-profit fundraising skills as a member of the Leadership Institute’s donor services division.  This role provides a unique opportunity to learn all aspects of relational fundraising and donor cultivation techniques.

Numerous professional development opportunities exist through LI’s political training programs (e.g., High-Dollar Fundraising, Public Speaking, Online Fundraising, and Direct Mail) and one-on-one mentoring by LI Development staff.

The Leadership Institute is a nonpartisan 501(c)3 non-profit educational foundation that trains principled conservatives to become effective leaders. The purpose of LI’s DSO position is to increase donor retention and upgrade donors to major giving levels to achieve our mission.

Required Skills

The main functions of the role include: donor research and the development of donor profiles; developing and implementing a donor communications strategy; analysis of donor performance; and responding to donor questions and concerns.

This position requires high levels of relational and communication skills, ability to work flexibly on a team, ability to take initiative, and eagerness to learn.

Desired Skills

The ideal candidate should be detail- and project-oriented. He or she should also have customer service experience and possess the ability to prioritize tasks of varying importance in order to meet deadlines. Salesforce experience is a plus.
