Duties: Monitor police and fire scanners and quickly respond to reports; assemble reporters and crews for story coverage; communicate with newsroom staff and inform producers of breaking news; respond to news tip calls and additional calls to the newsroom; assist in the planning of series and upcoming events with the News Director and producers; establish and foster contacts and sources within the community; maintain current, future and feature file for news stories; effectively manage any assigned special projects; Generate, write, videotape and edit news stories and packages for broadcast on-air and internet; serve as backup director; lift camera and associated equipment; assist with news production duties as need; drive and operate microwave truck for live shots.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Communication or Journalism emphasis preferred; equivalent experience will be evaluated.
Skills:
Candidate must possess exceptional news judgment and organizational skills; outstanding knowledge of current events a must; must be able to shoot and edit video; have knowledge of television news photography including lighting scenes for video taping and ability to gather information and conduct interviews in the field and on-scene at breaking news events; ability to meet deadlines is a must; excellent communication and motivational skills essential; be able to effectively coordinate coverage with newsroom staff and the public; positive attitude a must.
Experience:
Minimum of one-year previous experience as an assignment editor and/or photojournalist preferred.
