| WQOM Boston Catholic Radio Station Station Manager Job Summary
Overview: Holy Family Communications is a non-profit Catholic Radio Apostolate that has been operating for more than 10 years. We are completely faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. We are currently looking to fill the position of Station Manager in Boston, MA. The Station manager will provide leadership under the direction of Holy Family Communications for operating and maintaining the FCC licensed radio station WQOM 1060 AM. The nature of this position is that of Station and Marketing Manager.
Communication: One of the main responsibilities of the Station Manager will be to ensure daily effective communication with the President’s assistant about all matters pertaining to the daily activities at the station. The Station Manager will also be expected to communicate regularly with the Director of Advancement with regards to fundraising in the Boston area and to ensure communication and a respectful relationship between the Station and the Archdiocese.
Marketing: The Station manager in conjunction with the owner and Director of Advancement will be responsible for marketing the station to the Boston market. He/She will accomplish this in several different ways. Parish talks will be an integral part in getting the message out. The Station Manager will be expected to schedule and run two parish talks per month. The Station manager will also be expected to enlist volunteers to help spread the word about Catholic Radio. He/She will be responsible for consulting with the President on possible venues for marketing Catholic radio. He/She will be expected to contribute to the local monthly newsletter by finding people to write articles as well as advertise events specific to the Boston market. This position requires a substantial amount of public speaking.
Fundraising: The Station manager will have substantial involvement with the planning and execution of bi-annual on-air fund drives. This includes promoting the drive ahead of time as well as making strategic partnerships with people and organizations who can help to fund the budgetary needs of the organization. The Station Manager will also be involved in the planning and execution of an annual event that will help to raise money and awareness about the Station.
Technical: The Station manager will be expected to learn the basic technical skills with regard to radio sound boards as well as do the occasional on air interview or onsite broadcast. He/She will also be expected to communicate with the Production Administrator in Buffalo about technical needs. |
