Description of Job Opening
Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA), the nation’s largest trade association representing community banks, seeks an experienced writer for our congressional relations department. The selected candidate will interact with ICBA’s lobbying and regulatory affairs teams to develop persuasive communications that reflect the association’s legislative positions.

Responsibilities include writing, editing and/or contributing to Congressional testimony, letters to Congress, issue briefs and whitepapers, grassroots alerts, committee reports, legislative policies and other related communications.

Required Skills
Candidates should have a degree in public policy, communications or a related field and 5+ years of professional writing experience with particular emphasis on persuasive writing, preferably within a public policy or legislative affairs environment. Candidates must also demonstrate the ability to understand and analyze a range of finance, banking and related issues, policies and regulations pertinent to the association’s membership and interact effectively with internal staff and committee members/leaders to understand and convey the association’s positions.
Desirable Skills
Experience within the financial services arena, including related industry associations, is strongly preferred.
